Cells

I got an email yesterday from a friend, a molecular biologist who now is in charge of a huge facility. She invited me to come and look at stem cells in the lab (and then have lunch, Lab and Lunch). I can’t wait! I wonder if there’s a way to take a photo? It’s like going on a safari for me, which I just did with the kids. I always wanted to go to Africa and watch the animals. It so exceeded all of my expectations. Don’t you love it when things do that in life? We watched animals all day long, drinking in their movements and colors and expressions. I did take photos there, and I put them into a book. But cells are different. I know they are very real, but they also have this sort of unreal quality, hard to visualize, hard to really understand. To be able to mutate, change, heal or destroy. I want to paint them. I want to interpret them in that way. Bad cells killed my mother last year. It will be a year in April. What did those cells look like? What do I think they looked like?
