Settling Back

Summer is officially over and I’m back in the studio. Just ordered some sushi to get me through the lunch hour. I took one of my old abandonned paintings and put it back up on the easel. It’s the one I’ve been looking at for more than a year, thinking, “How can I get past this point?” I still feel stuck. Which is ironic because it looks so muddy to me. Sticky mud. Grim. Bleak. Not all too dissimilar to what’s going on in the country right now. Stock market. Hurricanes. Sarah Palin. But my paintings try to find connections, within our bodies and with the natural order. So I must find some today. Ah, sushi’s here.
